What grant programs are available to fund financial empowerment services for domestic violence survivors?

Allstate Foundation Regional Grants provide an opportunity for local domestic violence programs to receive funding for financial empowerment services through Allstate's Regional Offices. More information about this grant program is available here.

The Financial Empowerment Grant Program funds state domestic violence coalitions to provide innovative economic empowerment programs for survivors including financial literacy, matched savings programs, job readiness and job training, and micro-enterprise programs. How do I apply for a grant if I am an existing grantee?

If your organization received a regional grant from The Allstate Foundation in 2013, you will be contacted by Allstate to submit a full proposal. If you have not received an invitation to apply by March 14, please contact your relationship manager directly.

What should I know before I start the online application?

  1. Carefully review the Grant Funding Guidelines and grantmaking focus areas
  2. When you click the link to begin your application, you will be prompted to create a new user account for our online application system if you are a first-time user.
  3. If you completed an application in 2013, please select "I am a returning online applicant" and sign in with the email address and password you created when you submitted your grant application.
  4. After you have logged into your account, you will be required to complete an eligibility quiz before being allowed access to the application. These questions verify that your organization is eligible to receive funding from The Allstate Foundation.
  5. Be sure that you are completing the correct application for either a 501(c)(3) organization or municipality (governmental entities: city, state and federal). If you submit the wrong application, your request will not be accepted and you will need to start over and complete the correct application in order to be considered.
    • 501(c)(3) organizations are required to enter a valid Federal EIN (Employee Identification Number) as it appears on the organization's 501(c)(3) determination letter from the IRS. This EIN information is provided by the U.S. Department of Treasury, not the state government.
    • If you are a 501(c)(3) and our system does not recognize your EIN, please email
    • Municipalities (governmental entities: city, state and federal) will be required to upload supporting documentation to verify that the organization is a governmental entity.
  6. You may find it helpful to use a word processor to draft certain elements of your application and then cut and paste the text into the online application.
  7. As you are filling out the online application, we suggest saving your work regularly using the button at the bottom of each page.
  8. Do NOT use your browser's back button while filling out the application - you will lose all unsaved data.
  9. 9. You may stop working on your application before it is complete and return to it at a later time by logging in with your username and password. The website to log in and return to any saved application is:

  10. Once an application is submitted, you cannot add, modify or delete the application through the online system. If you need to make an important change to an application after you have submitted it, please contact The Allstate Foundation at with the updated application information.
  11. If you are completing a full proposal be sure to attach the required documents (i.e.: Board of Directors List, Detailed Project Budget, List of Funding Sources and Audited Financial Statements) specified on the last page of the application. Please note that you must upload each document separately.
  12. You will have an opportunity to review and print or email a printer friendly version of your application before submitting it. The Allstate Foundation staff will see your application only after you click the "Submit" button.

How do I create a user account?

When you click on the application link, you will be prompted to set up a user account and password. After you establish an account, you will receive an email that confirms your new user account and password. This email will also include the link needed return to your application if you save it as a draft before submitting. Be sure to save this email so you can refer to this important information while you work on your application. How do I access an existing account?

When you click on the application link, select "I am a returning online applicant" and enter your email and password. This will allow you to view previously submitted applications and reporting requirements that may be required for your grant.

How do I change existing account information?

If you have forgotten your password, select "Forgot your Password? Click Here" to receive an email with your password. If the email account used to create the account is no longer valid please email with information regarding the old email account and new contact information in order for the account to be updated. Account information can also by changed by selecting CHANGE EMAI/PASSWORD LINK in the account menu to change either your email address linked to this account (in case the nonprofit's account will be managed by a different staff) or the password should be changed.

How do I continue working on an incomplete application.

You can edit your application only if you have saved your application and not yet submitted it. To return to your partially completed application, click here and login with the username and password you created to start the application. You can email your application to others for review prior to submitting the application by selecting "Email Draft" at the top of the application and completing the fields to forwarding a copy of the application.

Yes, once you successfully complete the eligibility quiz, you can preview a printer-friendly version of the entire application.
